The bison in the painting is named "Tripod". He has only 3 legs, but gets around quite well. He lives at the Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge in Iowa. I had an exhibit at the J.N. "Ding" Darling Gallery at the Refuge and photographed Tripod and his pasture mates there.
